Dear Friends,
It's that time of year again when men across the country declare the might of their masculinity by donning a moustache in aid of a good cause.
Being the advocate for animal welfare that I am I will not be fundraising for Prostate Cancer UK; they were kind enough to respond to an inquiry I made (many do not bother to reply) to say:
'Prostate Cancer UK acknowledge that despite developments in areas such as cell culture and computer modelling there will be times when research still depends on the use of animals'.
I find animal testing abhorrent especially in this modern day and age and from my MSc studies I have found that there is a significant lack of agreement between human and animal studies across the spectrum of medical research.
In an attempt to balance things up a bit I am raising money for Cruelty Free International by eating the world's hottest chili the Moruga Scorpion!
There will be tears, there will be a high level of discomfort a lot of sweat and salivation, not unlike someone poisoned by organo-phosphates, and probably some vomiting! I will be posting a video of my Moruga experience at the end of November...I will spare you the vomiting!
